The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards took place on September 13, 2009, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The awards were held a few months after Michael Jackson died on June 25th, 2009. The VMAs dedicated the night to Jackson with a retro-music video (VIMEO) montage as a tribute, a performance that was followed by Janet Jackson and show closed with a spectacular look at This Is It, the film assembled from Jackson’s concert rehearsals. What’s interesting is that Madonna opened the show with a 6min. powerful moving testimonial about Jackson where she shares poignant memories in a away you never seen her before: One-for-the-books. Weird this speech never went viral. “Heal the World (VIDEO) and drop your gloves form Heaven MJ (VIDEO) and Make that change!"
