North Sea Jazz Festival 2012
Last weekend 75.000 people visited the North Sea Jazz Festival 2012. It took place in Rotterdam, The Gateway to Europe (video). Since 1976 NSJ has grown to 13 stages with more then a 1000 performing artists. It is basically widely acknowledged as the “biggest jazz festival in the world”, and has a strong reputation for showcasing many different areas of jazz from all eras. This year the artists to see where my personal favorites Van Morrison, Gregory Porter, Gretchen Parlato, James Morrison, George Benson, Chic with legend Nile Rogers, Maceo Parker with the multi talented Trombone Shorty, Tony Bennett, Lenny Kravitz, Michael Kiwanuka, Aloe Blacc, D’Angelo and Betty Wright, Rufus Wainwright, Amos Lee, John Hiatt, Pat Metheny with Unity Band, Jill Scott, Esperanza Spalding, Janelle Monaé, Melody Gardot, Jose James, and ‘Dr. House’ Hugh Laurie, Rita Reys, Archie Shepp, Wayne Shorter and Ahmad Jamal.
