BBC Two’s coverage of the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts in Pilton continues. Opening up the show, Mark Radcliffe and Lauren Laverne set the scene and look back over Radiohead’s history with the festival and then hand to Jo Whiley who is in prime position for when they take to the world-famous Pyramid Stage.
It’s been 23 years since the band’s debut at the festival and two decades since their epic headline rain-sodden performance back in 1997, and with a second headline slot in 2003 along with a surprise performance in 2010, the band have kept their faces familiar at Worthy Farm.
The performance came on the 20th anniversary of Radiohead’s first headline set at Glastonbury.
Now, they are back once more to their spiritual home to headline for the third time. Expect a lengthy and legendary performance from Oxfordshire’s finest five-piece.
“See you later, Theresa. Just shut the door on the way out.”
Radiohead: the greatest Glasto band ever?

“My fifth time seeing this unique, best alternative art rock act of the last two decades, live. Again I am mesmerized. First #RadioHead festival concert in #TheNetherlands since 2001 – Incredible introvert setlist; musically a truly beautiful ‘passionate’ performance – 130min. of sheer slow, emotional, melancholic, jazzy, rockin and peaceful music. Thom, Jonny, Colin, Ed, Philip at their best.”
Big thankx to the seven Audio engineers that travel with the band – sound was simply crisp perfect.
