“The huge price motivates poachers to persist”

You have probably seen Wild Aid’s ‘Whole World’ TV Commercial the last couple of days. It stars The Duke of Cambridge, David Beckham and Yao Ming —WATCH HERE— A great achievement by the Wild Aid organisation. Wait!…..it’s getting better!! Wild Aid teamed up with Animal Planet to create a TV series called Saving Africa’s Giants’ (CLIP), narrated by actor Edward Norton, and stars WildAid ambassador Yao Ming. Yao Ming is a former NBA star. A Chinese professional basketball player, 31st tallest person alive, and basically China’s most poplar athlete. To get an individual of this marketing magnitude to start caring about ivory, and poaching of Elephants and Rhinos in his homeland China, is absolutely fantastic. China is one of those countries that really needs to ban the ivory trade. His support and ours is much needed. Keep in mind that with current projections, African elephants could be extinct by 2020, only 6 years from now if this practice continues. FACT: Ivory poaching claimed the lives of 33,000 elephants in Africa in 2013, while almost 3 rhinos per day were killed for their horns in South Africa alone – VIDEO (Chinese). Broadcasts on ANIMAL PLANET’s ’Saving Africa’s Giants’ startsin the USA on Tuesday 18th November at 10pm ET/PT and in the UK on Friday 21st November at 9PM.
