Titanic: The Final Word With James Cameron

“I pitched it as Romeo and Juliet on a boat and that it was going to be an epic love story, but secretly I just wanted to have them fund an expedition to explore the wreck. And that is why I made the movie” An interesting true quote from Director James Cameron about Titanic’s first meeting with 20th Century Fox execs. We all know Cameron’s passion about Deep sea dives cause on March 26th he reached the Challenger Deep, the deepest part of the Mariana Trench. Cameron is the first person to accomplish the trip solo. But that “Titanic” was going to win 11 oscars and become the 2nd highest-grossing film in history is still a mystery to me. And with having an April 4th 2012 3D re-release it’s already making some extra $26,000,000 domestically. But exactly 100 years ago, we all know the unthinkable happened to the unsinkable. Marking this anniversary, the National Geographic Channel commemorates the “ship of dreams” with “Titanic: The Final Word With James Cameron". In this doc. James Cameron brought together a team of engineers, naval architects, artists and historians to solve the lingering mysteries of why and how an “unsinkable” ship sank. Cameron and his group discuss what happened after the Titanic struck an iceberg on that fateful night of April 14, 1912. The documentary combines footage from James’ more then 30 underwater dives, clips from Cameron’s feature film and clips from 2003’s “Ghosts of the Abyss.” The best part of this documentary is when Cameron turns to computer CGI artists to create a fascinating new animation that shows what likely happened as the ship broke and sank to the ocean floor. An interesting sidenote is when Cameron provides us with his view on climate change, corporate profits and greed causing suffering in the third world at the last 2min. of the documentary A-One-to-watch!
